The Cinema for Peace Gala at the Konzerthaus in Berlin last night has been really amazing! If you follow my blog you probably know, that I´m on the Supervisory Board of the Cinema for Peace Foundation, and Co-Chair of the Cinema for Peace Gala, which took place for the 9th time yesterday.
I truly believe in Cinema for Peace – not only because I´m a total addict of the silver screen, I also love that Cinema for Peace gives a chance to movies, that may not be big blockbusters, but can truly change your view on a specific topic! I think that movies in peticular have the power to raise awareness on almost every topic -> you can for example read something about genocide in Burma, or maybe check out some photos, but only a good documentary or story told with a movie will really open your eyes! There´s no better medium to deliver emotions then the cinema!
I wanna point out one movie in peticular, which won an award last night -> As We Forgive, about the genocide in Rwanda – a movie which is just painful to watch, but so powerful, you just take your eyes off it!
And then there´s the financial aspect – the past Gala´s raised well over 3 Million Euros (!) for various Charities. I don´t know yet, how much money got raised this year, but I truly hope we beat the 400.000 Euros we raised with last years Gala!

This picture of Leo and me was actually taken by one of the most famous photographers in the world – Michael Comte, and I didn´t even smile 
It´s quite a funny story -> I had quite a bit of wine already, when I got up the stage and shook Leo´s hand. I wanted a picture with him, and just gave the camera to the closest guy standing there -> Michael Comte! So a guy, who normally charges probably well over 100.000 dollars for a photo, just took a quick snapshot of me and Leo, and I look like a total douchebag LOL
Wladimir Klitschko didn´t really want to fight me (good for him …) – and no, I´m not just Napoleon´esque small, he´s also really tall

Every major newspaper wrote about the Gala, so it would be hard linking to all the articles, but I would like to point out the great (german) write-up over at Zeit.de.
It´s really been an amazing event – I had some great conversations with great people (like Nick Út, the photographer for AP, who actually took one of the most famous pictures of all time -> the “Napalm Girl“, which changed the view of the americans towards the vietnam war!) – I can´t wait for next year!

Wieder mal zu geil
Ich hab einen der Klitschkos mal auf dem Flughafen getroffen. Als der aufgestanden ist, hat sich der Raum verdunkelt.
Du solltest mal mit Leonardo einen 30er Jahre Film drehen.
Gewohnt souverän auf der ganz großen Bühne. Klasse!
