Schon im letzten Jahr trafen sich knapp 40 mehr oder weniger begabte Golfprofis aus der Onlinemarkeing Branche auf dem Green und im Wiesnzelt. Grund genug das ganze in diesem Jahr zu wiederholen.

Das Golf Turnier wird auf dem Golfplatz Brunnthal (in der Nähe von München) veranstaltet.
Es handelt sich dabei um ein 18 Loch Spaß-Turnier (nicht vorgabewirksam).

Für alle die keine Ahnung vom Golfspielen haben stehen zwei Golflehrer für einen Schnupper Golfkurs sowie eine Menge Golfbälle zum Abschlagen auf der Driving Range zur Verfügung.
Nachdem soviel Sport bekanntlich Hunger macht wird im Anschluss im Clubrestaurant 5 Jahreszeiten ordentlich für die Gäste aufgetischt.

Am Samstag Abend warten reservierte Tische im Wiensfestzelt Ochsenbraterei auf die Teilnehmer. Für Bier, Speis und Gesang ist auch dort selbstverständlich gesorgt!

On Top gibt es für jeden Teilnehmer ein gesponsertes Golfshirt der Marke FORE!TITUDE im Wert von 99€.

Das Zwei-Tage-Paket (inklusive Wiesn-Besuch) ist bereits komplett ausgebucht. Spätentscheider müssen sich erst einmal mit der Warteliste begnügen.
Für den Golfevent am Freitag sind noch wenige Restplätze vorhanden. Wer also noch dabei sein möchte sollte sich schnell bei Markus melden.

And later that month I joined Roman Polanski on his filmset of “The Ghost“, where I met Pierce Brosnan and Ewan McGregor

And at SMX Munich a couple of days later we had the best Webmasters on the Roof show so far – the Webmasters on the Roof Live-Panel mit Rand Fishkin, Bob Rains, Mikkel deMibb, Sistrix, FridayNite and humble self

May
My new race horse Primo Vero wins in Frankfurt (the Metzler Private Banking-Rennen) – unfortunatly that will have been his only win in 2009…

In June I travelled to the ecuadorian rainforest with Mascha Kauka to set up an internet antenna (here are some more pictures)

I also almost chopped my foot of, which lead to my indian name Ni Nawenak Ukutin … and they didn´t give me any other weapons after that, so I had to hunt with a blowpipe

But I can´t of got sick of my G1 the last couple of month, it began to develop some weird bugs, and started to just drive me crazy. Good thing I met Andreas in Las Vegas, who told me about the release of the first real Android 2.0 mobile -> the Milestone, and also promised to drop me one in the mail…. and well… I finally got it

I really gotta say, I love the Milestone! Ok, the keyboard is a lot worse then the G1´s version, since the keys are not really seperated from one another. I was pretty fast typing on my G1, but I kinda suck right now on the Milestone… but like with all new interfaces, I guess I´ll get used to it pretty fast. I love that there´s no data transfer whatsoever, since all my data (calendar, email etc.) is stored with Google and in the cloud (please don´t start with some paranoid BS). I love the new Android 2.0 OS, although it really doesn´t look all that different, but there´s definetly been some great improvements under the hood.

My buddy Shoemoney is using the Milestone (or the “Droid” for him in the US) too – head over to his blog, and read his review.

Are you already driving traffic to the No.1 mobile network in germany? If not, you should definetly contact Andreas or the guys over at Active Performance, who do an amazing job managing Vodafone´s great affiliate program!

Sixt´s very own inhouse SEO Seodeluxe actually did something similar a couple of month ago – the Online Marketing Generals Trading Card Game (which is actually loads of fun!).

So we were out in Vegas last week, and Michelle Robbins of Sphinn came up to me, and showed me my card! How cool is that!! I didn´t actually know I was in the new edition of the game! Ok, I didn´t see Rand until the next day, so didn´t have a chance to tell me – I was pretty surprised, but really proud to be part of the card deck

I haven´t played the game yet, and don´t even know the rules, but I hope my card kicks some serious butt
I definetly gotta check it out at the next werewolf party (hopefully at SES New York…?!)

Ich will nur schnell auf ein paar derzeit laufende Aktionen hinweisen.

Da wäre der “Volksphone” SEO-Contest, den Randolf zusammen mit dem 3GStore ins Leben gerufen hat. Wie auch schon im letzten Jahr kann man während dem OMClub (mit neuem Hauptsponsor TRG) ein niegelnagelneues iPhone 3GS gewinnen, sofern man genau zu diesem Zeitpunkt bei dem Begriff “Volksphone” auf Platz No.1 bei Tante Google rankt. Als Supporter dieses Wettbewerbs bin ich selbstverständlich außer Konkurrenz, aber dennoch möchte ich mich nicht unparteiisch geben, und euch auf den meiner Meinung nach würdigsten Sieger-Kandidaten aufmerksam machen -> Masturbaiter Martin´s DDR Handy Volksphone Post – sehr sehr geil

Apropos -> auch ohne Gewinnchancen aufs Handy, solltet ihr euch zum OMClub begeben, sofern ihr euch auf der DMEXCO tummelt! Karten sind wie jedes Jahr rar (kein Wunder bei free Drinks & der wohl besten Partystimmung der Stadt), aber via Jochen Schweizer gibt´s für Wagemutige scheinbar noch ein paar Karten! Ich werde leider nicht auf der DMEXCO sein, da wir ja nahezu zeitgleich das SEOktoberfest feiern! Aber ich weine der DMEXCO auch keine wirklich Träne nach, zwar trifft man dort wieder mal einfach Jeden, aber trotzdem gibt die Messe nen Scheiß auf SEOs und Affiliates, und fokussiert sich ja eher auf die Schar der Display´er. Ich glaube, dass ich seit 2003 / 2004 jedes Jahr auf der OMD war, aber gerade in den letzten Jahren, sind die Gänge einfach zu sehr mit Anzugträgern und Online-Marketing Amöben verstopft, so dass der Spririt vergangener Tage einfach nicht mehr vorhanden ist… sehr schade! Von demher streif ich mir dieses Jahr lieber meine Lederhose über, und feiere mit 30 excellenten SEOs & Online-Marketern das SEOktoberfest! Apropos Lederhose – auch in diesem Jahr bekommen ja alle Teilnehmer und Experten wieder ein komplettes Oktoberfest-Outfit von uns geschenkt (ja, auch die Playmates werden einheitlich in neue Dirndl gesteckt) – knapp über 10.000 Euro sind mal wieder für die ganzen Outfits, von den Haferlschuh´n bis zur Lederhosn, draufgegangen – aber ohne das traditionelle Outfit macht die Wiesn einfach auch nur halb soviel Spaß

Step 1 -> Choose a niche
Find a niche, what people are actually talking about on twitter. Popular affiliate niches like “Acai Berry” and “Forex” stuff doesn´t really work, since most of the tweets are Twitter spammers themselves…

One great niche for example is Music – take the current charts for example, and search the name of the bands as well as the songtitles on Twitter, and you´ll see an avalanche of people twittering stuff like “Listening to…” / “I just love …” etc. Just take a look yourself by for example searching for “Black Eyed Peas” on Twitter! And there´s one affiliate program, that just fits perfectly -> Ringtone offers
(btw. -> I know “Ringtones” are just sooo 2006, but it´s just about the example to illustrate the way you should be thinking + the process)

Step 2 -> Register a new Twitter account
I would never advise you to use your own twitter account to do that kind of stuff + I would find a more specific name anyways. So in my example I would register a new twitter account called something like “BlackEyedPeasFan” or “ILoveBlackEyedPeas” and find a nice picture of the artist / band as a profile pic. You should also get a custiom Twitter background, since it just looks a lot less spammy, when you have a custom background. Maybe paste the dates of their worldtour on it, or just find a great picture you can use as a wallpaper…

Step 3 -> Automate content
Since you´ll be doing this on a rinse & repeat basis, so basically for 100 artists and / or bands, and not just a single one, you definetly need to set up a routine to automate content for your account. That´s actually a pretty easy task ->

a) Set up a Google Alert for “Black Eyed Peas” and a couple of their songtitles (“I gotta feeling“) and grab the RSS-feed you get from Google

b) Mix in Musicvideos and Video-Interviews by grabbing a RSS-feed from YouTube -> http://www.youtube.com/rss/tag/blackeyedpeas.rss (you can actually put ANY keyword in there!)

c) Go to a service like TwitterFeed, create an account, add your feeds and let Twitterfeed fill in content on your “BlackEyedPeasFan” account.

Step 4 -> Find new friends & Black Eyed Peas fans
Use a service like Twollow, Hummingbird or whatever to Auto-follow people that talk about your niche. So set up keywords like “Black Eyed Peas“, “I gotta feeling” and a few others of their songs. You can also use sites like Twellow or the Twitter advanced search to manually find other Black Eyed Peas fans. Be careful though, Twitter has started cracking down on Twitter spammers and fake Twitter accounts, so make sure to operate within the guidelines and don´t grow that fast (don´t follow more the 100 people a day when starting up a new account etc.).

Step 5 -> Promote your offer
Use a service like Tweetlater to automatically send people a direct message when they follow you (which will eventually happen, when you auto-follow a lot of people and have a nice Black Eyed Peas account), and promote your ringtone offer like “Hey! Great to have found another big Black Eyed Peas fan! Just downloaded the I gotta feeling Ringtone -> YourAffiliURL” – or whatever. Make sure to test multiple messages for better CTR!

You will be amazed how many people (especially unexperienced!) will actually click on the link, and may even download the ringtone for a nice commission.

But you won´t get rich by doing this just with one artist, you gotta rinse & repeat! So why not just take the whole top 100 artists in the current charts? “Emilia Torrini” and “Jungle Drum“, “Linkin Park” and “New Divide” … rinse & repeat, rinse & repeat… you get the point

With a 100 twitter accounts like this and just 1 sale (!) a week per account (pretty conservative thinking, right?), you will be making 800 dollars a week (based on a standard ringtone commission of 8 dollars). If you´re thinking less conservative – just do the math!

And then just find another niche and a corresponding affiliate offer and rinse & repeat again

Just always make sure, that you´re as targeted as humanly possible – the more targeted traffic & people you can get, the better your affiliate offer is going to convert (doah! …)

Oh, and don´t forgot to use a service like Twitter Karma every once in a while, to unfollow people that didn´t follow you back, to keep your account nice & tidy.

I actually auctioned this once in a lifetime opportunity at the Cinema for Peace Gala´s Charity Auction back in february. I just couldn´t resist

Maybe some of you guys already know, that I wrote a movie script with a friend a while back, and sold it to Hollywood producer Andreas Schmid (he was the executive producer of for example “Monster” with Charlize Theron, and “Lord of War” with Nicolas Cage). So I´m quite interested in the movie industry, and a big cineast!

The shoot was actually a night-shoot, which started friday night at 8 p.m., and ended about 6.30 in the morning… but although it was pretty rough, I enjoyed every second of it, and felt like a little kid in a candy store

Roman Polanski and the whole crew also took good care of me, and although he was pretty busy, he took quite some time to show me stuff, and share some stories! So I was basically sitting on his lap the whole time, watching his every move closely – awesome!! A real special thanks goes out to Roman´s assistent Malgosia, and Cinema for Peace organizer Jaka Bizilj!

And I´m even in the movie for like a split second, flying in a helicopter – but I don´t wanna spill any spoilers

Right now, I just gotta rant a little about dusseldorf airport!

First let me make clear, that as being a frequent flyer, I totally support every security check the flight industry is forcing upon us! But what just happened to me, is just pushing it a little too far…

The guy from the security check just confiscated my 110 gramm pot of Paul Mitchell hair wax, I carried along in my hand luggage (since I was travelling light with just a small carry-on). The tube itself was about 3/4 full, so let´s say, there was about 85 gramms of wax still in the pot. He told me, that I was only allowed to carry 100 gramms of that kind of stuff, and it doesn´t actually count, what´s left in the pot, since apparently the label on the pot (stating 110 gramms of content) determines wether I can take it onboard a plane (how stupid is that by itself??). I was pretty upset, since it´s a 40 dollar pot of hair wax, so I argued a little… then he told me, that I could either check it in (actually I would have loved to see the face of the check-in lady, if I would check in that pretty small pot…) OR – and now it´s gets ridiculous – can scratch out the wax out of the pot into a smaller pot, which I could get at the airport pharmacy. He told me, that since there´s not more then 100 gramms left, I could then bring it along in the smaller pot… WTF ?!?!?!?!?

So you´re telling me, that I could bring along the exact same amount of hair wax, if I would only scratch it out, and put it into a smaller pot… WTF ?!?!? Only because it´s says on the pot, that there used to be 110 gramms inside??? You really gotta be fucking kiddin´ me!!

Needless to say, that I travelled with that exact pot of hair wax for at least 10 flights so far, and never had anyone even saying a single word about it…

So again – don´t get me wrong – I support all kinds of security checks, since I wanna fly savely back home, and I couldn´t care less about having to dump a 40 dollar pot of hair wax… but this reasoning is just plain out ridiculous!!
