Hey, es gibt noch einen weiteren Fall. Bei http://www.hyves.basic-thinking.de wird mir ein PR von 5 angezeigt.

In my case hyves.cbschmidt.de shows the same PageRank like http://www.cbschmidt.de, 3 out of 10. Seems, if it does not work for ever domain?!

Ich habs heute morgen schon in nem Blog gelesen und kann es eigentlich noch immer nicht glauben das es so einfach gehen sollte abgestrafte Seiten zu “entdecken”.
Es scheint mir ein wenig zu einfach für die sonst so geheimen Praktiken Googles.

Ich vergaß zu erwähnen: tausend Dank für diese Info “just in time” - am Wochenende ist einer meiner Kunden für alle Begriffe aus den Top10 in die Regionen 40-60 gefallen und war natürlich entsprechend thrilled, ob das jetzt eine Abstrafung für ein paar wenige gekaufte Links ist. Dank diesem Trick konnte ich ihm jetzt aber grade die letzte Bestätigung dessen geben, was ich schon zwei Tage lang gedacht habe: surely just a Google hickup… Also nochmal: danke, dass ich heute beruhigt in den Feierabend gehen kann… ;o)

I found at least one penalized domain that returned a 7 but for the most part, it worked correctly. Quite strange.

Also confirmed this with some peanalised domains I’ve worked with.

I can’t read the German comments (I guess I should translate!) but if that’s true, it’s quite an interesting find. I have found at least one high PR site that sells links that isn’t penalized though. But maybe that just means they didn’t get caught yet, or maybe they were too high to get cougt in the trap.

So lets just say my site is showing a 4, meaning I’ve been penalized..What exactly does that mean? I have noticed quite the PR drop but my traffic is as strong as it’s ever been so I haven’t given it much thought. Is there something to actually be concerned about? Or does it just mean that maybe my outgoing links are de-valued?

The PageRank reduction for link selling is only to the presented PageRank not to the actual PageRank. This is supposed to depress the price of links on the site because of the perceived lower impact they will have. It means your site’s performance does not actually change.

Maybe I am missing something, but what do you do exactly to check a “hyves” domain? Is there a website that I can go to, where I enter that domain, to see what the result is?

Just so you know, Hyves is a social networking site, based and extremely popular in The Netherlands. Hyves.net and Hyves.nl both have a PR7 - coincidence? Could be, but I can’t imagine why a “hyves” subdomain would display this kind of behavior in the PR bar.

dusoft, it worked for sk domains as well, it just stopped working an hour before. But the link command still shows 26000 backlinks for any domain.

nah its old news.. pr7 doesnt mean u have a real pr7.. its a glue to duntfuckingknow domain.. crawler eats it but pages from this domain is out of serp. its meanless.

It doesn’t seem to work anymore. My firefox tells me that it can’t find any (or nearly any) domain names that start with hyves. And using naden’s tool, I get 0 for all domains including google.

It worked only 12 hours overall! You´re only about a week late!

Yeah, it doesn’t work. Too bad. There was no sure-fire way to check these sorts of things. Probably not a hoax, but a Google experiment. Alpha not Beta like all their released products that are always in development.
